Germany, Military Coinage. 1 Kopeck (1916 A), Berlin. Iron (21mm, 2.88g).
Obv: "Region of the commander-in-chief - East" between oak leaves. GEBIET DES OBERBEFEHLSHABERS OST A
Rev: Facial value in a Iron Cross - 1 Kopeck 1916
KM # 21.
Interesting invasion coinage minted only in 1916 during WWI Germany’s eastern occupation of parts of Russian territory. This example has not been cleaned, like others on the market, and the condition is a testament to its age and authenticity. Fakes of these types now circulating (in extraordinary “mint state” condition, many of which were certified by NGC and PCGS) are now well known, and buyers should be careful that they are buying a genuine item.
